The Biggest AI Domain Sales of 2026 (So Far)
From a $70 million .com to dozens of six-figure .ai deals, 2026 has been the biggest year yet for AI domain names. Here are the largest publicly reported sales through mid-October, and the patterns behind them.
The headline deal: AI.com for $70 million
In February, Crypto.com co-founder Kris Marszalek bought AI.com for a reported $70 million, paid in cryptocurrency, in a sale brokered by GetYourDomain.com and DomainAssets. It is the largest publicly reported domain sale on record, well ahead of the previous benchmark, CarInsurance.com at $49.7 million.
The name went to work immediately. AI.com aired a 30-second ad during Super Bowl LX on February 8, and the wave of visitors briefly took the site offline. Few purchases show as clearly why companies pay for a name people can type from memory.

Many domain sales are private and never reported, so the true top of the market is higher. For context, the most cited earlier .ai sales are Voice.ai, reported at $1.5 million in 2022, and Chat.ai, reported at $1.2 million in 2023. Bot.ai matches Chat.ai’s reported price and is the largest .ai sale reported this year.
What the numbers show
- .ai is now a mainstream aftermarket. 36 of the sales on DN Journal’s 2026 top-100 chart are .ai domains, every one at $100,000 or more.
- Short dictionary words lead. Bot, Lotus, Genesis, Act, Free: nearly every six-figure .ai sale this year is a common English word of one to three syllables.
- Buyers shop for .ai like .com. Spaceship’s marketplace handled 23 of those 36 six-figure .ai sales, a sign that companies now browse and buy .ai names with a click rather than through long negotiations.
- The .com still sets the ceiling. AI.com sold for about 58 times the price of Bot.ai. The two extensions now work together: .ai for the product, .com for the very largest consumer brands.
Where brandable names fit
Dictionary .ai names at these prices are out of reach for most startups, and the supply is fixed. That is pushing founders toward short coined names, which cost a fraction as much, are usually easier to trademark and still carry the .ai signal. A coined name doesn’t command dictionary-word prices on its own. Its value comes from being short, easy to say and owned outright before the company grows into it.
